The The core responsibility of this position is to install/maintain local and wide area networks and all associated equipment for our clients including routers, switches, hubs, file servers & firewalls. The position may also require accompanying the business development staff to assist in the technical specifications and evaluation of the client’s system needs. In addition, the person filling the role of network engineer may develop network designs and project plan proposals.
Qualifications, Experience, & Abilities
- Certified Novell Engineer (CNE) certification or Master certification (MCNE)
- 3 years experience supporting, installing, configuring and troubleshooting a LAN/WAN environment
- The following is a plus:
-Working knowledge/understanding of router configuration (Cisco and Nortel)
-Support knowledge for Windows client workstations
-VPN configuration
-Microsoft 2003 and Exchange Server administration and implementation
- Novell 5.x and 6.x administration and implementation including Groupwise and Linux
- Ability to manage project from start to finish including project definition, assessment of the best technologies for the solution and implementation of the solution
- Ability to handle multiple tasks/projects simultaneously
- Excellent follow through and communication with users regarding status of pending work requests and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Must be willing and able to obtain additional training and certification as needed/required
